Laina Torries

Hey everyone! My name is Laina Torries. I possess a BS in Human Nutrition & Foods through West Virginia University with a Psychology minor. I additionally possess an MS in Dietetics through Marshall University and will be a Certified Registered Dietitian January 2020. I have completed a 10-month, 1200 hour Dietetic Internship in which I was challenged to provide nutrition counseling to outpatient and inpatient clients in clinical and community settings. I additionally have over four years of experience working in the healthcare field and currently am an employee of the University of Texas' Athletic Nutrition Department. After spending six months interning as a Dietitian in a hospital, I quickly found that my personal views on achieving optimal health begin and end with non-pharmacological solutions. To help combat my stress and anxiety I began eating healthier, exercising, doing yoga, and practicing meditation. All of these non-pharmacological solutions have been successful at helping me to achieve a healthy mind body connection with myself. With that being said, my passion is to help others achieve a healthy mind body connection through nutrition counseling and physical activity. With how stressful life is and can be, I understand how hard it is to keep yourself on your priority list. I want to help you. If you choose to work with me, you should know that I believe you can do anything/eat anything as long as it is in moderation. I do not believe in fad diets, and I do not believe in depriving yourself of sweets. I believe your body can do anything your mind allows but this is something that takes a great deal of training. I will help you achieve this. We all deserve to be happy - I would be honored to help you simplify your life. :)
